Silk Velvet Bedding, Washable and Made in California
Our silk velvet bedding pairs softly washed linen with rich, small batch dyed velvet, from simple tailored borders to full, romantic ruffles. It is all natural fiber fabric, dyed and sewn in our California workroom after you place your order, and it is all designed to be washed at home.
Two ways to wear velvet on the bed
The Isabella Tatter Velvet Ruffle Collection is the bedding we began with many years ago. Its duvet has a washed, pre-shrunk linen and cotton front and back, framed on three sides by full, gathered silk velvet ruffles that fall around the bed. Colors include Crème, Natural, Champagne, Rose, Chambray, Denim, Aubergine, Cacao and Aloe.
Velvet Border Linen Bedding takes the opposite approach. Inspired by a vintage 1960's mink trimmed coat, it finishes washed 55% French yarn linen and 45% cotton with a tailored velvet border, for a luxe bed without the ruffles.
What our velvet is made of
Our velvet is a silk and rayon blend; the silk velvet swatch is 82% rayon and 18% silk, small batch dyed in California. Because we dye in small lots, colors can vary slightly from batch to batch, so order every piece you need at once, or order a silk velvet swatch to see a color first.
Velvet sheets, shams and layering
Many people searching for velvet sheets or velvet bedding sets want that soft, lustrous look across the whole bed. Our velvet lives on the duvet, shams and pillows, and it layers over our crisp cotton poplin or Softly Washed sheets. Add Velvet Frame Pillows and Shams and a silk velvet throw at the foot of the bed to finish the look. Wondering whether velvet works for everyday sleep? Read is velvet bedding practical.
Care and lead time
Linen and velvet bedding is machine washed in cold water with gentle liquid soap, with no bleach, then laid flat to dry or tumbled on a cold setting. Our silk velvet care guide has the details. Linen and velvet pieces typically take 2 to 3 weeks to make before they ship.
